The village with 247 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) is located in the historic province of Flanders in the Blootland region , which stretches along the northern French and southern Belgian Channel coasts , and is about 16 kilometers south of Dunkirk and 13 kilometers from the border with Belgium away.
