Hondschoote ( Dutch: Hondschote ) is a French municipality with 4083 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France .
She achieved fame through the battle of Hondschoote on September 8, 1793.
The municipality belongs to the Wormhout (until 2015: Canton Hondschoote ).
geography
Hondschoote is located 24 kilometers from Dunkirk and 63 kilometers from Lille . The eastern municipal border is also the state border with Belgium .
