Buysscheure , Dutch Buisscheure and West Flemish Buusscheure is a French municipality with 583 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement Dunkerque and the municipality association Flandre Intérieure . The residents call themselves Buysscheurois (es) .

geography

Buysscheure is located in the west of French Flanders , about seven kilometers north of Saint-Omer in the far north of France. The municipality is located on the southwestern edge of the Flemish plain. The ground relief rises imperceptibly towards the east and reaches 50 m above sea level on the eastern border of the municipality. The coastal river Yser has its source in Buysscheure . Buysscheure is surrounded by the neighboring communities Rubrouck in the north, Noordpeene in the east and south, Nieurlet in the south-west, Lederzeele in the west and Broxeele in the north-west.

Economy and Infrastructure

The D 26 trunk road from Watten to Cassel runs through the north of the Buysscheure municipality . The city of Saint-Omer , seven kilometers away, is a road and rail hub.
