Pitgam is a French municipality with 966 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Dunkerque and is part of the canton Grande-Synthe (until 2015: canton Bergues ). She belongs to the Communauté de communes des Hauts de Flandre . The inhabitants are called Pitgamois .
geography
Pitgam is located about twelve kilometers south-southwest of Dunkirk in the Pays Moulins de Flandre countryside . Pitgam is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Spycker in the north, Steene in the northeast, Crochte in the east, Zegerscappel in the southeast, Eringhem and Drincham in the south and southwest, Looberghe in the west and Brouckerque in the northwest.
