Noordpeene ( Dutch : Noordpene ) is a French municipality with 788 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France near the border with Belgium . It is located in the arrondissement of Dunkerque and is part of the canton of Wormhout (until 2015: canton of Cassel ). The inhabitants are called Noordpéenois .
geography
Noordpeene is located about 25 kilometers south of Dunkirk on the Peene Becque . The municipality is part of the Caps et Marais d'Opale Regional Nature Park .
Noordpeene is surrounded by the neighboring communities Rubrouck in the north, Ochtezeele in the north and north-east, Zuytpeene in the east, Clairmarais in the south and south-west, Nieurlet in the west and south-west and Buysscheure in the west and north-west.
