history

More than a hundred years ago, the breed was kept exclusively in Russia and the countries of the later Soviet Union . The breed is called in Russian Цветная болонка ( Zwetnaja Bolonka ), which means "colorful lap dog" ( Bolonka = lap dog and zwetnaja = colorful). The breed was popular in the GDR from the mid-1980s . Neither the Bolonka Zwetna nor the Bolonka Franzuska gained international recognition. The Bolonka Zwetna is recognized by the RKF under the name Русская Цветная Болонка (Russian Bolonka Zwetna).

From a color variant of the Bolonka Franzuska, a breed of its own was developed in the Soviet Union . While the Bolonka Franzuska is white, the Bolonka Zwetna is available in many colors and color combinations except white.

Breed description

Bolonka Zwetnas are slightly longer than tall dogs with a shoulder height of up to 26 cm and an average weight of 3 to 4 kg. The coat of the Bolonka Zwetna is long, dense and shiny, with a well-developed undercoat . The hair is of the same length all over the body, forming large curls or waves. Large curls are preferred. Any color is allowed except white and piebald. Small white markings on the chest and toes are tolerated. The ears are set high on the medium-sized head and hang on the cartilage. The eyes are medium-sized, dark and rounded, in liver-colored animals lighter eyes are permitted. The completely hairy tail is of medium length, set high, carried in a curve over the back or lying on the back. The tip of the rod touches the body. A special feature of the Bolonka Zwetna or the Bolonka Franzuska is that the breed has little or no hair. The resulting better suitability for allergy sufferers (“hypoallergenic dog”) has not yet been confirmed in any of the examined breeds.

Essence

According to the breed standard, the Bolonka Zwetna should be a balanced, lively and good-natured dog.
