1996 Manchester bomb attack

Coordinates: 53 ° 28 ′ 59.9 ″  N , 2 ° 14 ′ 36.6 ″  W The Manchester bombing occurred on June 15, 1996 at the Arndale Center in downtown Manchester . Around 1,500 kg of explosives exploded at 11:20 a.m. local time, causing severe damage to the buildings. The IRA was responsible . Due to a bomb warning, the area had been evacuated in time; nevertheless 212 people were injured by flying glass splinters etc.
