Bombette

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A bombette ("small bomb") is a cylindrical firework (diameter approx. 1.5 to 6 cm) made of cardboard or tightly wrapped or tied paper with various effect fillings. Bomb beds differ from bombs primarily in that they lack an ejection charge. They are mostly emitted by other fireworks such as spherical or cylinder bombs, fireworks batteries or fireworks rockets. Bomb beds, like ball and cylinder bombs, are mostly made by hand specifically for their intended use or specifically for the ejecting fireworks. What all bombettes have in common, however, is their approximately to perfect cylindrical shape and the delay detonator, which is ignited by the ejecting or decomposing charge of the ejecting fireworks and finally ignites the decomposing charge of the bombette after a precisely defined time. The filling of the bombette, the effect set (e.g. star bouquet or lightning bolt set ) is ignited and distributed by the decomposing charge .

If the delay fuse fails, the bombette comes back to the ground as a black shell .
