Argentine bombo

The Bombo , also known as Bombo legüero , is a double-headed cylinder drum that is used in Argentinian music .

The body is originally made from a log, more recently also from laminated plywood. The tubular drum is played vertically, with the drummer carrying it over his shoulder in front of his body with a strap. The instrument has a flexible toggle tension and is easy to tune even under different weather conditions. The nickname legüero means that the drum should be heard over a distance of a legua (over five kilometers).
