Alilem is a municipality in the Philippine province of Ilocos Sur and borders on the provinces of La Union and Benguet . In 2015, 6695 people lived in the 156.2 km² area, resulting in a population density of 43 inhabitants per km². The hilly area rises from a few meters above sea level up to 460 meters. This is another reason why rice cultivation in rice terraces is particularly suitable here. Otherwise, mainly sugar cane is grown by the population. Two rivers flow through the landscape: the Amburayan and the Bakun. Kankanaey and Ilokano are spoken in the community.
