San Emilio is a municipality in the Philippine province of Ilocos Sur . It borders the province of Abra to the east . In 2015, 7407 people lived in the 150 km² area, resulting in a population density of 49 inhabitants per km². In the mountainous area people live in simple houses made of wood and bamboo. Most of the population lives from growing rice and tobacco .
