The Bontang Football Club is a football club from Bontang , Indonesia . The club played for a long time in the country's highest league, the Indonesian Premier League . The club plays its home games at the Mulawarman Stadium. The association describes itself as the most successful association from Kalimantan . After the semi-finals in 1994/95 they reached the championship final in 1999/00. In 2013 the club was banned from the first division for match-fixing and has been playing lower class since then, currently in 2017 in division 3.
Club names
The association was founded on June 18, 1988 as Persatuan Sepakbola Pupuk Kaltim Galatama . After being renamed Pupuk Kaltim and Pupuk Kalimantan Timur Bontang , the club was renamed Persatuan Sepakbola Bontang Pupuk Kalimantan Timur in 2002 . On June 12, 2009 the name was changed to Bontang Football Club .
