Booker Washington Theater

The Booker Washington Theater was a theater in St. Louis that played exclusively for a colored audience. It was founded in 1913 and had to close in 1930 for financial reasons. Josephine Baker made her first public appearances at the Booker Washington Theater in 1919 . The theater was named after civil rights activist Booker T. Washington .
