The Boom Overture is a triple-jet supersonic aircraft under development by the start-up aviation company Boom Technology . It is based on the test vehicle Boom XB-1 and is to be used as the successor to Concorde for supersonic airline service from the end of the 2020s .

With a cruising speed of 2335 kilometers per hour and a capacity of 75 passengers, the Overture should fly a little faster, but only transport around three quarters of the Concorde's passengers. As with the Concorde, supersonic flight is only intended over the ocean. The maximum range should be 8300 kilometers.

The aircraft should be more profitable and operate with fewer emissions than the supersonic passenger aircraft of the 20th century. It is to be operated with CO 2 -neutral fuel from the start . Boom 30 pre-orders, mainly from Virgin and Japan Airlines , were already in place at the beginning of 2019 .
