BootCD

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

BootCD is a tool for creating Live CDs for Apple Macintosh systems with a graphical user interface ( Finder and Dock ).

While the classic Mac OS operating system has always been bootable from read-only media, Mac OS X is a little different. It is based on BSD - UNIX and therefore requires some manual work in order to make it bootable from CD . Charles Srstka has developed a program that independently compiles the required components of the operating system and writes them to a burnable file. These can then be expanded with your own programs so that they are available after a restart for hard disk repair, diagnosis or even for Internet surfing.

The last version that BootCD works with is Mac OS X 10.3.x (Panther).
