The Finnish shipping company Bore Line existed from 1897 to 1991.

history

The company was founded in 1897 as Ångfartyg A / B Bore (German: Dampfschiffahrts-Aktiengesellschaft Bore , internationally known as Bore Steamship Comany ). The shipping company initially dealt with services to and from Turku in Finland, mainly to Mariehamn and Stockholm in Sweden. In later years the company expanded its liner services, but for about 70 years it concentrated on passenger ship lines from Turku and Helsinki. Among other things, a line to Lübeck was maintained.

In 1904, Bore was one of the founding companies of the Silja Line . After the First World War, the Bore Steamship Company began to function increasingly as a cargo ship shipping company. From 1927 to 1965 Bore was one of the operators of the Finland South America Line.

From 1980, Ångfartyg A / B Bore focused exclusively on freight traffic. After the shipping company was completely taken over by the Finnish Rettig Group in 1987 , the name changed to Bore Line . In 1991 the ship operation was transferred to Finnlines .

In 2016 the Rettig Group sold its shipping business with nine RoRo ships to Spliethoff .
