The Emden III locomotive is a two-axle diesel locomotive of the Borkumer Kleinbahn and was built by Schöma in 1970 . It is a CFL 200 DA locomotive. She spent the first nine years in Denmark with the Faxe – Kalkwerke railway.
history
The Borkumer Kleinbahn was looking for a new diesel locomotive in the eighties because the EMDEN II locomotive , built in 1942, was no longer state-of-the-art and finally found a suitable locomotive in Denmark at the Faxe – Kalkwerke factory, which was 792 mm wide. At Schöma, for example, it first had to be re-tracked to 900 mm. She has been with the Kleinbahn since 1988 under the name EMDEN in the third line-up. Locomotive EMDEN II came to the German Railway Association in Bruchhausen-Vilsen . Until 1993, the EMDEN III locomotive was the most powerful and modern locomotive on the small railroad. After it was up for sale for a few years after the acquisition of new locomotives in 1993/94, it has been the plan locomotive for the third train since the installation of a Sifa in the second half of 2001.
construction
The engine was made by Deutz and the gearbox by Allison .
