Bossuta Stefan

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bossuta Stefan was Archbishop of Gniezno from 1027 to 1028.

He was mentioned in the Annales regni Polonorum deperditi with the date of death March 7, 1028. No other contemporary information has come down about him. Bossuta Stefan became archbishop in 1027 or 1028 after the death of Hippolytus .

Jan Długosz reported in the 15th century about two archbishops, Bossuta until 1038 and Stefan until 1058. These details are uncertain.

The origin of Bossuta is unknown. The names indicate a possible Hungarian origin. Polish research mostly assumes a Slavic origin (Bożęta).
