The lighthouse Voslapp was a guiding and cross light in the Inner Jade . From 1907 to 1961 it designated a section of the fairway to the Wilhelmshaven ports .
The black, square and 25.6 m high tower was built from 1906. He stood on four pillars in the mudflats and carried a round lantern . The lighthouse was named after the former village of Voslapp , today a district of Wilhelmshaven , and was similar to the Obereversand lighthouse . The beacon , manned by two beacon keepers, went into operation in June 1907. The station was also equipped with a bell for fog signals . The tower, which was also a popular destination for mudflat walks, was given a 3.25 m wide white band in the summer of 1956.
The beacon was replaced and extinguished in August 1961 by the new Voslapp leading light line . The tower was demolished in October 1961 . At the former location, which was diked between 1971 and 1973, today only the foundations and a memorial stone remind of the old lighthouse.
Replica
On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the city of Wilhelmshaven, a replica of the lighthouse was created by students from the vocational schools according to the old construction plans. The approximately five meter high tower on a scale of 1: 5 was erected in October 2019 on the green area opposite the St. Martin Church.
