The former Eversand overhead fire is now in Dorum- Neufeld. The height is 37.4 m above low water. It is a black, four-sided tower on a lattice construction, with two galleries and a round lantern.

technology

The tower originally had a Fresnel belt lamp with a catadioptric reflector. The focal length was 500 mm. At the beginning a three-wick kerosene lamp provided the light, which extended over twelve nautical miles . In 1905 a more powerful petroleum incandescent light was used.

Today the beacon has a belt lamp with a focal length of 400 mm with a five-watt energy-saving lamp that is controlled by a photocell . Access to the tower is at a height of 17 m and can be reached via a separate stair tower. Access to the second gallery is through three stairs in the tower. Outside the tower there is a spiral staircase that serves as an evacuation staircase in the event of a fire.

history

The Eversand overhead fire was built by AG Weser in 1886/87 on behalf of the Hanseatic City of Bremen (53 ° 45'N / 8 ° 21'E). Together with the Eversand sub-fire , from 1887 to 1923 it directed shipping traffic in the area of the Weser estuary through the Wurster Arm of the Outer Weser with a white fixed fire . At that time the main waterway ran there. The buildings closed a lighting gap between Bremerhaven and the open sea.

Due to the relocation of sands in the Weser, the main fairway had to be relocated to the Fedderwarder Arm in 1922 . The towers lost their function. After that Eversand-Oberfeuer served as a rescue beacon (so-called refuge for shipwrecked people ) and was maintained as such until 1994/95. Then the ice drift damaged the substructure.

In March 2003 the transfer from Eversandwatt to Dorum-Neufeld took place. The Hanseatic City of Bremen assumed a large part of the implementation costs of around 1.8 million euros. The lighthouse was erected at the end of a new pier and provided with a side stair tower. Here the lighthouse serves as the harbor fire of Dorum-Neufeld and is the center of the tourist attraction Erlebnisraum Wadden Sea .
