Bothmer gymnastics

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bothmer gymnastics was from 1922 to 1938 by Fritz Graf von Bothmer developed when he physical education at the first Waldorf School in Stuttgart took over. In collaboration with Rudolf Steiner, he developed the gymnastics that was later named after him.

This consists of a series of movement sequences that are tailored to the different stages of development of the child. The exercises he describes are used in the educational field, in therapeutic work with adults and children, and as an element in advisory activities.

Bothmer gymnastics sees itself as an independent movement discipline with an anthroposophical background that deals with the forces of space. The practitioner learns - based on the architecture of the human figure - to observe, guide and develop his movement in space.

Since 2005 there has been a 4-year in-service training program, and a professional association has existed since 2000.
