Boulmiougou

Boulmiougou is one of five arrondissements into which Ouagadougou , the capital of the West African state of Burkina Faso , is divided.

The name means “red fountain” in Moore , the Mossi language . The arrondissement was founded on November 2nd, 1988, the first local elections took place in 1995. The Boulmiougous area comprises four sectors and four villages on 4780 hectares. The population is 366,182 (2006 census).

Mayor is Séraphine Solange Ouédraogo.
