Boutari

Boutari ( Greek Μπουτάρη or Μπουτάρη Οινοποιητική Α.Ε. ) is a Greek producer of wines and as Ι. Μπουτάρης & Υιος Holding Α.Ε traded on the Athens Stock Exchange. The wines are sold under the names Boutari and Kampa .

history

The company was founded in 1879 by Ioannis Boutaris. The first product was the Naoussa Boutari (Νάουσσα Μπουτάρη). In 1906 new facilities were finally opened in Naoussa, which are still used today as a company museum and customer center. Stelios Boutaris, the founder's son, took over the management in 1935 and opened exports to Austria, Hungary and Egypt, in 1967 his children Ioannis and Konstantinos, who started the current winery in Naoussa . In the 1980s, the Boutari Group began importing spirits to Greece (Johnnie Walker, Gordon's Gin and others), and in 1992 the Henninger Hellas Α.Ε. brewery was founded. (today: Mythos AE ), which launched Mythos, Greece's first lager beer, on the market in 1997 . In 1995 the heiress Marina Boutari took over the management of the Boutari Group. In 2002 the mineral water Kimi (Κύμη) was acquired.

Christina Boutari took over the company in 2006, and in the same year the company was realigned. All non-wine-making activities have been sold. Then the Domaine de Mayrac winery from Languedoc was acquired.

At times the company was headed by Giannis Boutaris , who succeeded in being elected mayor of Thessaloniki in 2011 as chairman of a small party .

Wineries

The company has seven wineries, including six in Greece ( Naoussa , Goumenissa , Crete, Santorini , Attica, Mantinia ) and Mayrac in France.
