Bow Road is a station on the London Underground in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets . It is in the Travelcard tariff zone 2 on the street of the same name. In 2014, 5.77 million passengers used the station. Bow Church station on the Docklands Light Railway is about two hundred meters to the east .

The exit of the inner city tunnel is at the western end of Bow Road station. The gradient of the tunnel access east of the station is 3.57%; this is the steepest section on the entire London Underground network. The station building is a listed building . Bow Road is served all day by the District Line and Hammersmith & City Line trains. The latter, however, do not run in the early morning, late in the evening and on Sundays.

The station was opened on June 11, 1902 by the Whitechapel and Bow Railway , a joint venture of the Metropolitan District Railway (now District Line) and the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway . The Metropolitan Line first served Bow Road on March 30, 1936 (the branch line in the direction of Barking was transferred to the Hammersmith & City Line in 1988).

The station has been a listed building ( Grade II ) since 1973 .
