Brønnøysund is a town in the Norwegian municipality of Brønnøy .

Brønnøysund has 5,070 inhabitants (January 1, 2017) and is the landing stage for Hurtigruten ships . The city is located on the Fv17 coastal road which is part of the Golden Route in central Norway. It also has Brønnøysund Airport . Brønnøysund is pretty much in the middle of the Norwegian coastline, 840 km to the North Cape and 840 km to Cape Lindesnes .

Attractions

Near the town, on the island of Torget, is Torghatten , a mountain with a 35 meter high and 160 meter long hole - a straight cave that is open at both ends. According to a legend, this hole was struck by an arrow from the impetuous Prince Hestmannes . You can get there via a hiking trail with a view of the archipelago and hike through it.
