Brønnøy is a municipality in the Norwegian province of Nordland .
The center of the municipality is Brønnøysund with around 5,000 inhabitants. A total of 7,917 people live in the municipality (as of February 27, 2020). Brønnøy is one of the few municipalities in the northern part of Norway that has seen population growth.
The municipality is located almost exactly in the middle between the southernmost point of Norway, Cape Lindesnes , and the North Cape . The landscape is very diverse, it consists of fjords , skerries and mountains. The highest point is the Breivasstinden (1224 m), the longest fjords are the 32 km long Tosenfjord (part of the Bindalsfjord ), followed by the 31 km long Velfjord .

The municipality of Brønnøy got its current size in 1977 when Sømna was spun off as a separate municipality.
The municipality's coat of arms dates from 1988 and shows a sea mark .
The Norwegian Aquaculture Center opened in 2008.
