Sømna ( South Sami : Sïebne ) is a municipality in the Norwegian province of Nordland . The center of the municipality is the place Vik . The name Sømna probably comes from the old word sveifn (meaning "the place where you turn around") and refers to the narrow harbor square.

Residents

Most people are employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing. The agriculturally usable area is 29 km². The largest dairy in Northern Norway is located in the municipality . The second largest group of employees is in public administration.

Others

Probably the oldest shoe in Norway was found in Vestaberg. The leather shoe is believed to be around 300 BC. BC and is located in the Science Museum in Trondheim .
