Hemnes is a municipality in the Norwegian province of Nordland . The municipality borders Sweden to the east .
The administrative center of the municipality is the place Korgen. Other localities are Finneidfjord, Bjerka and Bleikvasslia.
Economically, the municipality is shaped by electricity production , agriculture , forestry and the manufacture of boats. There are several power plants in the municipality that generate electricity. The electricity is mainly used for the smelting plants in Mosjøen and Mo i Rana and some of it is exported to Sweden .
The highest mountain in Northern Norway, the 1916 m high Okssolten , is located in the municipality. The Okstindbreen glacier is located in the mountain range .
