Gildeskål is a municipality in the Norwegian province of Nordland . The administrative center of the municipality is the place Inndyr with approx. 900 inhabitants. The municipality is located directly on the coast with some offshore islands.

Attractions

  • Gildeskål Church - A church courtyard about three kilometers from the center of Inndyr. There are two churches here, the newer one from 1881 and the older one from 1130. The older church is one of the most important stone churches in Northern Norway.
  • Round trip by ferry - From Sund there is a ferry round trip to the islands of Sør-Arnøy, Nord-Arnøy and Horsdal. A German coastal battery with four guns has stood on Nord-Arnøy since the end of World War II.
  • Antenna of the longest wave transmitter JXN with several wires stretched over a valley. The position of the transmitter building is 66 ° 58 '58 "  N , 13 ° 52' 23"  O .
