Helmut Holzapfel (born December 13, 1914 in Munich ; † October 3, 1984 in Würzburg ) was a Roman Catholic theologian , clergyman , journalist and author .

Life

Helmut Holzapfel was ordained priest in 1938 in Würzburg. From 1938 to 1945 he was chaplain, cooperator and parish administrator in Fladungen, Donnersdorf, Kürnach, Unterpreppach, Bad Kissingen and Zellingen. Holzapfel was awarded a Dr. med. In 1941 in Würzburg with a thesis on the moral valuation of physical work in Christian antiquity. theol. PhD .

From 1945 to 1951 he was cathedral vicar in Würzburg. In 1946 he became editor-in-chief of the Würzburger Catholic Sunday newspaper and remained that way until 1978, from 1978 to 1984 he was the spiritual editor of the Würzburger Catholic Sunday newspaper. From 1971 to 1984 he was also editor-in-chief of the Bavarian Klerusblatt.

He has published numerous articles and books.

Holzapfel was considered a pioneer of German-Polish reconciliation. Bishop Ignacy Jeż appointed him as honorary canon in the chapter of the newly founded Polish Catholic diocese of Koszalin-Kołobrzeg .
