Fauske ( Lule : Fuossko ) is a municipality and town in the Norwegian province of Nordland .
Fauske is surrounded by Bodø in the west, Sørfold in the north, Sweden in the east and Saltdal in the south. South of Fauske on a hill east of the road is located opposite the turn-off to Leivset a place of sacrifice of the seeds , which until the middle ages was used.
The administrative seat is the place of the same name Fauske near the provincial capital Bodø .
The city is known for its marble deposits . Today (2009) an alternating pink / white and a light gray marble is extracted. This stone is known and in demand worldwide. It is installed in the UN headquarters in New York.
