Brønshøj is a district of Copenhagen . It belongs to the municipality of Brønshøj-Husum . Brønshøj is located 4 kilometers west of the city center of Copenhagen.

history

Brønshøj was first mentioned in 1186. During the Northern Wars of 1658–1660, the Swedish fortress Carlstad was built here, which has now disappeared; from here Charles X Gustav besieged Copenhagen. At that time the place with 30,000 inhabitants had as many as Copenhagen. In 1901 Brønshøj was incorporated into Copenhagen. The first skyscraper in Copenhagen was built here in the 1950s.

A regional museum shows an exhibition on the history of the place.

The football club Brønshøj BK plays in the country's second division (formerly also in the first division).
