Bridge side

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As a bridge side , english doorway page (even page jump , satellite page or mirror site called) is called for search engine optimized websites that bring no benefit itself, but merely serve as intermediate pages to forward to the actual site. If you reach such a page after clicking on an advertisement, it is called a landing page .

One side of the bridge has the following characteristics:

  • it offers keywords to search engines
  • it only functions as an intermediate page
  • it redirects visitors to the main pages

The bridging pages enable search engine optimization to be carried out without having to change the content of the actual website. The pages are peppered with key words under which they or the linked pages are to be found in search engines . The aim of website operators is to enlarge their “footprint” in the search results, ie several search results lead to the same website via different bridging pages. The bridging sides are geared towards different regions or cities without offering corresponding regional content. In some cases, bridging pages also lead the user to target pages that no longer have anything to do with his search query.

Bridging pages are often generated automatically in large quantities by scripts or programs. This classic form of the bridge side is often recognized by the larger search engines and rated as an attempt at manipulation. This can lead to exclusion from the search engine index , for example BMW was excluded from Google in 2006 .
