Bridge keeper

A bridge keeper is responsible for the proper and safe operation of large road bridges . This activity is a specialization of the road attendant , there is no separate training . The employers usually include road and motorway maintenance depots .

The main activities of this profession include the maintenance and cleaning of the entire bridge. Winter maintenance is of particular importance , as black ice can form particularly quickly on bridges . If it is a drawbridge (for example over a waterway ), the bridge keeper is also responsible for opening and closing the bridge.
