Brothers of Christian Doctrine

The Brothers of Christian Doctrine (Frères de la doctrine chrétienne, abbreviation : FDC ) are a Roman Catholic religious order (Brothers / Frères). It was founded in 1845 in the diocese of Strasbourg in France by the diocesan priest Eugen Mertian to care for homeless young people and to provide education.

The brothers ran schools, boarding schools and homes in Alsace and Breisgau (Ettenheim 1920–1966), and worked in pastoral care. From 1956 the religious community was active in Madagascar . The head office is in Matzenheim (Collège Saint-Joseph); further current branches are in Strasbourg and Andlau.
