Fallow (unit)

The fallow land was a French / Dutch measure of length and in Bruges the so-called small cubit . Another name was Schweizerelle or Stab, since the measure was also valid in Switzerland . Here it was the Demi-Aune, 2 feet in length.

In addition to the large cubit, the aune with 1.188 meters, there was also the linen cord or small aune for the retail trade with 1.143 meters.
