Brackish March

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A brackish marsh is the name for a marsh whose sediments were formed in the brackish water zone. It is often poor in carbonates, as there are few mussels in the brackish zone and therefore little mussel limestone has remained. The brackish marsh is no longer an independent soil type, but is added to the other marshy soils ; often the Kleimarsch . Areas are usually found directly on the Geestrand or near river mouths.
