The Barschmoor nature reserve is a 33 hectare nature reserve in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , which was designated on September 21, 1972 and bears the statistical code "NSG N 87". It is located north of Waren in the area of ​​the municipality of Peenehagen , northwest of the village of Alt Schönau . The protected area is part of the Mecklenburg Switzerland and Kummerower See nature park .

The protection goal is the preservation and maintenance of a bog complex. The state of the area is assessed as good. The water balance of the areas is not disturbed. There are no public roads in the area.

Open bodies of water can be found in the central part of the area. To the east, there are wet biotopes with peat moss , reed grass and sedge beds . The osprey uses the land to purchase food. Breeding birds , in addition to various species of ducks Crane , Green Sandpiper , Wood Sandpiper , Woodcock , Snipe and little grebe . The otter is also found here.
