Nature reserve owner peat meadows

The nature reserve owner Torfwiesen is a 42 hectare nature reserve in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania between the towns of Werder and Dahlen . A typical section of a valley bog of the Kleiner Landgraben with wet meadows is to be preserved. He was deported on January 26, 1943.

The state of the area is assessed as unsatisfactory, as the entire original inventory of species in the meadows with primrose and pipegrass no longer exists and woody trees cover the areas. The area cannot be entered. The nature reserve Landgrabenwiesen near Werder is immediately to the west.

The nature reserve, together with the nature reserve Landgrabenwiesen near Werder and an adjacent area to the north, forms the FFH area Talmoorkomplex of the Kleiner Landgraben near Werder .

history

The Landgrabental was created as a late Ice Age drainage channel. In the areas of today's protected area, a flow moor formed , which was heavily drained in GDR times. In the last 20 years the bog has sunk by up to 50 centimeters.

Flora and fauna

Due to the drainage, numerous wood species were able to colonize the areas. Starting with gray willow and bog birch , elderberry , buckthorn , eccentric cones , raspberry , buckthorn , ash , common oak and red beech grew . In the herb layer there are numerous plants that indicate the high nutrient richness: stinging nettle , common water stew and burdock bedstraw .
