Landgrabenwiesen nature reserve near Werder

The nature reserve Landgrabenwiesen near Werder is a 95 hectare nature reserve in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania between the towns of Werder and Dahlen . A typical section of a valley bog of the Kleiner Landgraben with wet meadows is to be preserved. The designation took place on June 19, 1972. The nature reserve was expanded in 1975.

The state of the area is assessed as "satisfactory", since the water balance of the moored sinks is disturbed by drainage and so trees can spread. A farm road leads into the areas from the north. The owner peat meadows nature reserve is immediately to the east.

The nature reserve, together with the nature reserve Beseritzer Torfwiesen and an adjacent area to the north, forms the FFH area Talmoorkomplex of the Kleiner Landgraben near Werder .

history

The Landgrabental was created as a late Ice Age drainage channel. In the areas of today's protected area, a flow moor up to four meters thick formed , which was used in the 19th century to dig peat through the creation of small peat cuttings. The field designation horse meadows indicates the use in some areas. In the 1940s, a larger peat cut was made in which the peat was cut by machine. A conversion to intensive grassland was planned in GDR times, but could be prevented by placing it under protection.

Flora and fauna

The flora in the area indicates the influx of calcareous groundwater. Flour primrose , black copfried , shrub birch and dioecious sedge occur. In drier locations grow moor grass , Inula salicina , fly orchid , Big Händelwurz , marsh gentian , bog-sitting , swamp milkwort and many more sedge species. Farther away from the Landgraben, globe flower , helmet orchid , stiff-leaved orchid and forest angelica bloom .

King corn , common snipe , whinchat , yellow wagtail , meadow pipit and curlew have been identified as breeding birds . Lesser spotted eagles , crane and marsh harrier are among the food guests . The butterfly fauna with mourning cloak , swallowtail , large kingfisher , evening peacock butterfly and medium owl is also worth highlighting .
