The nature reserve Kuckssee and Lapitzer See is a 110 hectare nature reserve in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . It is located southwest of Neubrandenburg and north of Penzlin and was expelled on June 13, 1995. The protection purpose consists in the preservation of the two shallow lakes, Kuckssee and Lapitzer See, with a wide silting belt, springy alder - quarry forests and forest-free moorland. The lakes are an important resting place for numerous bird species. The state of the area is only assessed as satisfactory, as extensive nutrient inputs from neighboring areas have a negative effect. The inaccessible protected area areas can only be viewed from a small path from Rahnenfelde and from Kukuksberg.
