Putzarer See nature reserve

The nature reserve Putzarer See is a 457 hectare nature reserve in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania near Putzar , a district of the municipality Boldekow south of Anklam on the border between Western Pomerania and Mecklenburg . The nature reserve, together with an adjacent area to the northeast, forms the FFH area of the same name Putzarer See .
history
The Große Landgraben flowed into the Putzarer See for many years between the border between Western Pomerania and Mecklenburg . When the river was relocated, the lake silted up and is now only around 30 cm deep. A wetland area with an area of around 399 hectares was created around the lake, which was expanded by another 58 hectares in 1995. A nature conservation station has been located on the north shore of the lake since 1970.
Flora and fauna
The nature reserve has a supraregional importance for the bird world due to the Putzarer See as a bird reserve and breeding ground for swans . It was therefore included in the list of “Wetlands of National Importance”. You have cranes , gray geese and ducks are observed.
