Braguinha

The braguinha , also known as Machete known is a small four-string guitar , which from the island of Madeira ( Portugal comes). The tuning of the four metal strings is usually d ′ - g ′ - h ′ - d ″. It is often used to accompany chords for singing.

It was brought to Hawaii by the Portuguese immigrant João Fernandez in 1879 , where it is considered the forerunner of the ukulele , along with the cavaquinho .
