Brain of Britain

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Brain of Britain is a traditional British radio show broadcast since 1954 . The 30-minute weekly quiz is on BBC Radio 4 and is currently hosted by Russell Davies. The broadcast used to be taken over by the BBC World Service . Questions about general education must be answered without multiple choice and jokers; the demands on the candidates are very high.

Each candidate is asked a question and has 10 seconds to answer. If he answers correctly, he gets one point and another question, after 5 correct answers he gets a bonus point, but after that it goes on with the next candidate in any case. If someone answers incorrectly, the other players can turn the buzzer down and receive a point with the correct answer.

Not only will there be an annual final, but also a three-year final, the winner of which will receive the title “Brain of Brains”. There is also another final of three such three-year winners, the winner of which can call himself “Top Brain”. The last two top-Brain-winners in 1998 were the most famous English Quizzer Kevin Ashman, one of Eggheads and four-time world champion of the IQA , and 2008 Mark Bytheway , the IQA World Champion in the same year of 2008.

Well-known annual winners of the last time are Daphne Fowler (1997) and Chris (topher) Hughes (2005) as well as the Irish Pat Gibson (IQA world champion from 2007) in 2006, who meanwhile, like Ashman, all participate in the show Eggheads.
