Shonn Greene (* 21st August 1985 in Sicklerville , New Jersey ) is a former American American football poker players in the position of running backs . He played college football for the University of Iowa and was selected by the New York Jets in the 3rd round of the NFL Draft in 2009 . In the National Football League (NFL) he played for the Jets and the Tennessee Titans .
High school career
Greene attended Winslow Township High School in Atco , New Jersey . There he initially played as a running back and linebacker . In his freshman year, he achieved 18 touchdowns and 1,267 yards in 221 tries. The following year he reached 16 touchdowns and 1,378 yards in 172 attempts, in addition, he posted a record with 191 career tackles and a turnover on the defensive. He finished his high school career with 4,266 yards run, 43 touchdowns and 503 tries.
College career
Greene attended the University of Iowa but was absent the entire 2007 season because he worked in a furniture store to pay his tuition at Kirkwood Community College. There he studied to increase his grade point average before transferring back to Iowa. He won the Doak Walker Award in 2008, making him the first Iowa player to win the award and the first player to fail last season's team despite winning. After the Hawkeyes won the Outback Bowl on January 1, 2009 , Greene announced that he would join the NFL. Shonn Greene was the only one to run over 100 yards in every game this year.
Professional career
Greene was selected by the New York Jets in the third round of the 2009 NFL Draft . After sustaining a rib injury in the pre-season phase, he had to sit out the first game of the season and was slow to establish himself in the team. As a substitute for Thomas Jones , he ran a total of 540 yards in the regular season and scored two touchdowns. During the play-offs Greene was able to improve significantly and scored a total of 304 yards in three games.
For the 2013 season , he signed a three-year $ 10 million deal with the Tennessee Titans . After failing to live up to expectations in Tennessee, running 687 yards and six touchdowns in 171 runs in two seasons, he was fired by the Titans on June 16, 2015.
