Fire protection department

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The fire protection department is responsible for matters of fire protection in the building permit process . In addition, they carry out regular inspections of special structures ( fire inspection / fire prevention show ) and contribute to the acceptance of concepts for events.

In the building permit procedure, the fire protection department checks, among other things, whether the escape routes of a building are available and meet the requirements or whether it is possible to rescue people using turntable ladders . In addition, it is examined whether the extinguishing water supply of the property is sufficient. If the building is equipped with technical fire protection, for example a fire alarm system or a sprinkler system , this is also checked. The exact scope of these tests and also the powers of the fire protection services differ greatly from state to state.

If there is a professional fire brigade , the fire protection department is attached to it. The name of the department is then usually Preventive Fire Protection or something similar. If there is no professional fire brigade, the fire protection department is part of the district office / district administration .

As a rule, the employees of the fire protection department have trained in high-level fire-fighting services .
