Violas

Violas, in the background the Kleine Tenn

Violas are weathered forms that arise almost exclusively on the limestone mica slates of the Upper Slate Shell in the Hohe Tauern as a result of frost and aeolian expansion . The limestone mica schist, which is blue-gray in the fresh break , weathered yellow to brown and flakes on the surface even to the violas. These form up to 40 ° steep, rocky and hardly overgrown mountain slopes with a peculiar, rough surface caused by wind erosion. Violas can be found e.g. B. on the Fuscherkarkopf , the Bärenköpf , on the Kitzsteinhorn , on the Schwerteck or on the - afterwards called - viola heads .
