Braunauer cherry

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Braunau cherry , also known as Brunokirsche , is a brown variety of sweet cherries belonging to the heart cherries .

origin

The variety was selected as the best type from a group of shapes in 1900 in the Querfurt district .

fruit

The fruit is medium-sized, heart-shaped, flat in side view with a hump on the abdomen. The soft skin is dark brown when fully ripe, light dashed when half ripe. The flesh is dark red, soft and juicy and sweet with sufficient acidity. It tastes quite good when fully ripe. It has a medium burst resistance and preferably bursts on the stamp side. The stone is medium in size, remarkably flat. The stem is medium long, about 3.5 cm, green, often reddish, with a medium-sized stem attachment. It ripens in the 2nd to 3rd cherry week , at a time when there are no problems with the cherry fruit fly.

tree

The tree grows medium to strong with sloping, upright leading branches. The crown is round to pyramidal. The tree is self-sterile and needs a fertilization partner. It flowers mid-early, at the beginning of flowering together with little (slightly reddish) leaf shoots. The tree is a robust mass carrier.
