Brown fleet (Dutch: Bruine Vloot ) is in the Netherlands, the name for commercial passenger ride with traditional ships (sail and motor vessels).

The fleet consists of around 500 former cargo ships that can be chartered for several days or weeks. The name brown liquor refers to the color of the sails, which was created by dyeing with Cachou or Catechu or Cutch , the juice of the gerber acacia .

The ships are mainly flat-bottomed and round-frame ships . The destinations are around the IJsselmeer , the Markermeer and the Wadden Sea . The ship types used are Tjalk , Klipper , Aak and the schooner . These ships are therefore represented in almost all ports around the IJssel and Wadden Sea.
