Bridal exam
The bridal exam of the Roman Catholic Church is an examination prescribed by canonical law prior to marriage. A Catholic priest or deacon entitled to marry documents the personal details of the bride and groom, their freedom from obstacles to marriage (e.g. blood relationship or an already existing marriage) and the will to marry in the marriage preparation protocol . Likewise, that the bride and groom want to enter into an indissoluble and exclusive marriage, which is based on the good of the spouse and on the procreation and upbringing of children. Originally, the so-called bridal lessons as religious instruction on marriage and the sacrament of marriage were also associated with the bridal exam .
